We touch on the isolating feeling of mental illness as the viewer watches our character's journey to regaining their will to fight back. We opened on a character sitting in a bathtub and used butterflies to characterize the heaviness of their problems, and an stormy ocean for the turmoil within. And after watching Toy Story, I’ve always imagined that the toys are alive when we’re not looking at them. The journey is about an astronaut going through a space trip in the claw machine. The story shows the kid who loves space playing the claw machine, imagines rescuing the astronaut from getting sucked into a black hole by maneuvering the claw. Eventually, completing the operation and taking the astronaut back home down to earth. With the misdirect at the end of the journey makes the story more interesting while bring back the nostalgic memory from childhood. We explored ideas of duality including strong vs weak and destruction vs hope. Sadly, whether you are born rich or poor is not a choice. I chose a coin toss as my framing device because it’s a strong symbol of uncertainty and chance. One side of the coin is rough and deteriorating while the other is shiny and pristine. Each side is meant to represent life of the Have’s &amp; Have not’s. We follow the coin as it falls through the air, not knowing what side it will land. I want to show how the students who want the same shot in life that the wealthier kids have, but will never get. This is a short film about the anxiety and struggle, the mental pandemic, during the quarantine, especially to the ones that don’t get to have their families and friends around. The framing device of this piece is falling. It aims to investigate the psychological effects of isolation.
