With all the connections enabled by modern technologies, we were still forced to be disconnected from each other during the lockdown. Isolations, loss of income and fear are triggering mental health conditions to the existing ones. Many people may be facing increased levels of alcohol and drug use, insomnia, and anxiety. This is a short film about the anxiety and struggle, the mental pandemic, during the quarantine, especially to the ones that don’t get to have their families and friends around.
The framing device of this piece is falling. It aims to investigate the psychological effects of isolation. The inevitable gravity signifies the accumulation of stress and eventually a mental breakdown. By closely studying the tiny details of daily objects, it presents how our home could become a daunting jail cell when we were constrained within it 24/7. Even with all the technologies, some of us could still feel disconnected mentally and suffer from the latent psychological pandemic that is as real as COVID-19.
